Strength
“Strength is the ability to overcome or to resist force”
Strength is probably the most
misunderstood step on the Pathway to Peak Performance. This is primarily due to
our perception of the purpose of the weight room. When you think of the weight
room, you naturally think of going somewhere to get stronger. There is no doubt
that strength is one of, if not, the most important motor ability we build in
the weight room. The primary consideration is not in there being a problem in
building strength, but with the order in which we build that strength. Remember
the primary goal of any training program should be eliminating or reducing the
chance of injury. The Pathway will demonstrate that when strength is trained
out of sequence it will increase the likelihood of injury.
