Movement
“Movement is the ability to perform a task with
unhindered and efficient range of motion.”
Movement is the first and most important step along the
Pathway. An individual must possess the capability to
move before they can advance in the developmental
process. The goal of movement in physical fitness or
athletics will always result in the performer being able
to perform specific movement tasks that are necessary
for the specific activity.
YC equips students with the ability to produce movements
that will maximize their performance and place them in
position to experience success for their efforts. If
movement is hindered then the task will be hindered. The
Pathway to Peak Performance recognizes and trains four
different components of movement.
1.) Flexibility – Static and Dynamic
2.) Mobility
3.) Posture
4.) Movement Skills
Movement Skills represent a specific task of movement
performance. Movement Skills are the precursors of all
fitness and sport activity. The development of movement
skills will also incorporate coordination of effort.
