The Developmental Stage - ( puberty )
Objective: To utilize high level movement skill development to advance
to more advanced skills and the developmental stage of the improvement
of ability. Improve work capacity and begin the advanced journey of
the Pathway to Peak Performance. Establishing a strong aerobic base
is very important during this period of a kid's life.
The body is rapidly developing during this stage of a child's life and
proper instruction will take this into account. It is important for
the parent to understand that variances in performance may be the result
of differences in growth and maturity levels. Rapid growth spurts may
result in a lack of coordination.
YC ZONE encourages the multi-skill approach and participation
in a variety of exercises from a wide range of sports. We progressively
increase the volume and intensity of training. Drills and games are
designed that will introduce athletes to fundamental tactics and strategies
and reinforce skill development. The journey down the Pathway to Peak
Performance begins with mobility screens and improvement training in
movement, coordination, and balance. All participants are provided with
opportunities to participate at challenging levels and experience success
- and failure.
We avoid placing a young person in a competition, exercise, or drill
that place too much stress on the body anatomically. Stability and mobility
must be gained at this stage before the onset of certain exercises or
drills. The participant is encouraged to think about aspects or tactics
such as accuracy and technique.
